INTERVIEW WITH THE AUTHOR:
Duane K. McCullough 3/10

by Duane McCullough

This 22nd interview was written by the author in response to possible questions regarding the book: SPIRIT OF ATLANTIS / The Treasure Adventure. Although there are three fictional reporters asking questions about the many views presented in the book, the questions asked are meant to inspire the public into discovering the truth and reality about Atlantis. The public is welcome to republish this "press conference" - however, any republication of this interview should include this web site address or HTML link to the www.spiritofatlantis.com web site.

Dateline: 3/10 / Place: Rosman, North Carolina

Duane: Please let me again apologize for the long gap since our last interview nearly two years ago. There exist ongoing changes in my personal life that have continued to affect my capability to update my Atlantean theories. My wife & I have been adapting to our new home setting here in the mountains of Western North Carolina and time for scientific research work has been limited.

Perhaps this year more time will be provided for me to consolidate my research and I can again provide regular interview events that could help reveal the details behind my new Atlantean theories.

As I stated in my last interview, my new Atlantean theories are currently challenging the conventional science of anthropology and archeology with breakthrough concepts that reveal a new understanding of human history and the true treasures within history's greatest mystery. The subject of Atlantis needs to rise above the fictional level of make-believe and false views into the realm of true history.

So, in order to better explore these new Atlantean theories I welcome new questions and comments.

Reporter 1: You stated in our last interview that you had hoped that your new home setting in the mountains of Western North Carolina would help your scientific research into the subject of Atlantis. After several years of living there, do you believe your move has helped in your research?

Duane: I have no doubt that moving to a simpler more comfortable place will provide more time for research -- and the mountains of Western North Carolina have been very comfortable and a relatively simple place for a homesite. Living up here at nearly three-thousand feet in the mountains has been great -- even the recent extraordinary winter events have blessed us with wonderful winter views that the locals have not seen in decades.

Having said that, living far from a tropical sea shore is something that I once thought I would never be fond of -- but I'm not missing the sea shore yet. I've spent almost a half a century in southern Florida at sealevel and now living high in the mountains is a welcome change. My wife is also fine with our move. She is recovering from a serious automobile accident event that happened over three years ago and only recently has found justice in her case.

So, yes to your question -- our move to the mountains has helped in my research. It has positioned us with more time to improve our interest -- and my interest is all things scientific. Especially the scientific study of the subject Atlantis.

I was hoping that when we moved my living expenses could be covered by my artistic photography work which can be seen online at my THE REALM GALLERY website.

I have acquired a large format printer that prints on canvas and the end product of my art efforts are canvas-wrapped photo images of local nature scenes such as old barns and waterfalls. My original plans when we first arrived in the mountains was to create large panoramic canvas photos of nature for sale -- but because of the economical slowdown of the last two years, I've had to scale down to smaller more affordable prints just to break about even.

Reporter 2: Do you have any new Atlantean theory that might capture the attention of any major educational institution or main stream news media service?

Duane: Actually, I have recently come across some online images of certain ancient Egyptian artwork wherein the use of snakelike handheld rod devices within the temple of Dendera suggest the theory that a remarkable lighting tool technology was once used in prehistoric times. They are known as the "Dendera Lamps" and may represent part of the lost technology I have theorized in my Atlantean research.

When one sees the images of these "lamps" and remembers a passage in the Holy Bible at Exodus 7:10 about how Moses's brother Aaron threw his staff down in front of Pharaoh and it became a snake, a mental link develops between what was recorded in the Holy Bible and what was created in prehistoric Egypt on a temple wall long ago.

I could elaborate on this prehistoric snakelike rod technology from the age of Atlantis but, to be honest, I believe my existing Atlantean theories should be enough to capture the attention of the general public if only the major news media services or educational institutions would investigate some of my research.

For over a decade my SPIRIT OF ATLANTIS website has freely posted information and illustrations on the Internet that depict the ideas in which our prehistoric Atlantean ancestors once used particle-beam cutting tools and flying aircraft. And not once has any representative of any significant information institution contacted me with questions regarding the details behind my theories.

Once again, like I stated in my last interview, I guess the strategic argument associated with my radical timeline theory of when the Atlantean Maritime Kingdom existed less than a thousand years ago keeps most historians and scientist from believing in the rest of my theories.

Reporter 2: Do you believe the main stream news media services or academia is ignoring your research work on purpose?

Duane: No -- I do however believe that the main stream news media services and academia are so preoccupied with other publishing events that my research work is apparently lost under reams of daily data files generated by those services.

I have to say that because my research work is incomplete -- and may always be incomplete due to the nature of the research, I am not really surprised that news of my research has not made any headlines over the years. This is not to say that I'm not disappointed after over two decades of research and seeing no real financial compensation for my publishing efforts.

Currently there is no available up to date hardcopy of my SPIRIT OF ATLANTIS research project because I have not been able to afford to publish one. It is easier for me to update and make changes to my online website version than to print new hard copy versions every several years. As a self publisher in the age of the Internet, it seems more efficient to go electric than ink and paper in getting information out to the public.

However, I am aware of the book publishing industry that exist and perhaps later this year I will attempt to publish a hardcopy version of my SPIRIT OF ATLANTIS research project. With financial capital support, I could also take my research project to the next level -- a video documentary of my Atlantean theories.

Reporter 3: If you do publish a hardcopy version of your SPIRIT OF ATLANTIS research project later this year, are you prepared to tackle the calendrical math and time data needed to defend your new one-thousand-year timescale of human history?

Duane: Like I've suggested in past interviews, compressing five-thousand years of recorded conventional history into one-thousand years of historical events to fit my new timeline theory of human history may seem like an impossible task, but much of the math work has been done -- I just need to create a scaled illustration of the concept.

My new timeline theory about how true recorded human history only dates to only about a thousand years ago could just be a bigger breakthrough discovery than my discovery research on the Atlantean subject. But since the two subjects are linked together by nature, one subject should help the other -- and I'm going to need a lot of help.

I can just hear it now from some readers -- "yes, your're going to need some help, some mental therapy help". Imagine the effort in challenging every conventional historical record that has been published for over five centuries.

Actually, because my new timeline theory does not challenge the annual accountability of the last five centuries, I'm really only challenging the annual accountability of recorded history prior to the discovery of the New World, the printing press and the use of the new non-Roman number system. And if one thinks about this new timeline theory long enough, what seems impossible may not be so impossible after all.

Students of history should realize that most all recorded annual history prior to about five centuries ago was first created and published about five centuries ago -- and for the last five centuries, the conventional model of recorded Biblical, Greco-Roman and Medieval history has just been reprinted over and over without any significant changes. What that means is that if publishers of the early Renaissance were wrong in their calendrical math -- which I believe they were, then a new corrected timeline version of human history needs to be established and published so a truer version of recorded human life on this planet can be understood by all students of history.

Reporter 2: Speaking of life on this planet and the true annual timeline of humans, have you theorized how long ago when the Atlantean Civilization began and do you believe there could have been any extraterrestrial intelligence that influence or created humankind in past?

Duane: Wow -- that's a loaded set of questions. Let's see about breaking your questions down to some basic concepts.

First, as I may have mentioned in some earlier interview, the timeline model I have proposed for the beginning of the Atlantean Civilization is about two-thousand years ago with a major "Biblical destruction event" about nine-hundred and thirty-one years ago from the current year. Actually, the Atlantean Civilization wasn't really totally destroyed -- it still lives but with another identity popularly known as "Western Civilization".

By compressing and recounting Biblical, Greco-Roman and Medieval historical event records into a much smaller time value for reasons I've explained before, and then adding this "block of time" value of about five centuries to the last five centuries, my new timeline theory of recorded human history amounts to about a thousand years in length.

Now because there must have been many years of unrecorded time that took place before a thousand years ago for the Atlantean Maritime Kingdom to evolve into a global civilization, my new timeline model theory creates a date for the beginning of human history a thousand years before Biblical history began -- which when added all together, equals about two-thousand years of total time.

The primary reason why I chose a starting date of this new timeline model theory at a thousand years before Biblical history was that the modern calendar of Western Civilization would not have to change their year count value of what is the current year of 2010 A.D..

Moreover, any human related event dates that could be discovered before the Biblical date of Adam would count forward without having to count backward in time like the conventional A.D. calendar does when counting event dates from before the birth of Christ as in B.C. dates.

So, all this calendrical math suggest that a new interpretation of the current year of 2010 may actually be two-thousand and ten years not after the birth of Christ, but two-thousand and ten years after the beginning of what Christ represents -- which is to identify with the good in human nature and to build a world of trust among other human beings.

This new timeline model theory is a project I'm currently still working on and it would suggest a new global dating system that would end in the letters "A.T." -- as in "Atlantean Time", and would change the understanding of the year 2010 A.D. into 2010 A.T.

As to the second part of your question, regarding my beliefs about the origins of humans on this planet and whether intelligent life first began on or off planet, I have no fixed theory for that concept yet. When one stares up at the starry evening sky -- or for that matter sees any wonderful sky, wonderment of the origin of life and whether simple forms of life could become intelligent overtime and develop intergalactic travel abilities, creates a great curiosity as to where and when or how life began in the universe.

Using astronomical data to explain anthropological or archeological concepts can get very complex, but I have a general theory that if physical corporal beings could ever discover a technique to beam themselves faster than the speed of light to spread a civilization over time throughout the universe and leave artifacts along the way, then and perhaps only then could it be possible that intelligent life on this planet originated off planet.

However, because planet earth is so incredibly far away from any other known earth-like planets, and because current technology has not discovered any physical loophole that could beam living beings across our local solar system -- let alone our galaxy or the known universe, the odds that earth was ever influenced by extraterrestrial intelligent life in the past or present seems very slim -- which suggest the idea that intelligent life first began in the universe on this planet.

Whether humans in the future explore outer space using Star Trek type vehicles or travel around the universe and communicate among other life forms on other planets like in the recent movie K-Pax -- wherein the alien space traveler "beams around" using "light energy", the fate of human life in the universe really depends on how intelligent we truly are not only in developing transportational skills that will take us to other planets, but in our survival skills in developing ways that will take us safely into the future.

Reporter 2: Have you come across any new anthropological concepts that could help explain why you believe modern humans originated in the New World continent of Atlantis and not in the Old World group of continents?

Duane: Let's clarify two things in your question. First, I believe modern humans may have originated in the New World continent of Atlantis byway of a unique diet of mnemonic foods, but that humans in general are a product of a global evolution process that may or may not have it's roots in the Old World group of continents.

Second, because the prehistoric Atlantean Maritime Kingdom was a global government that was based in the New World continent of Atlantis, the idea that the Old World group of continents was not part of Atlantean Civilization can be misleading. Based on Plato dialogues wherein he suggest that the leaders of Atlantis were attempting to control or "police" the eastern Mediterranean area just before a major earthquake event destroyed both the Atlantean and Hellenic governments, it should be understood that Atlantis was a global government that once included all the continents on this planet.

I see the native inhabitants of the New World as our ancient ancestors who once colonized the shores of the Old World group of continents long before the Biblical Flood destroyed the maritime links that once united the global Atlantean Maritime Kingdom.

It's interesting to note that where I now live in the Southern Appalachian Mountains, the local native Cherokee Indians are related to the Alqonquin, Eri and Iroquois culture -- which I have discovered historical links to the prehistoric natives of Ireland and Scotland in the British Isles. And most of the local last names of my neighbors here in the Southern Appalachian Mountains are related to the natives of Ireland and Scotland in the British Isles.

Perhaps conventional history needs to be changed to reflect a new understanding as to the true origins of our Atlantean ancestors.
