INTERVIEW WITH THE AUTHOR:
Duane K. McCullough 8/2025

by Duane McCullough

This 68th interview was written by the author in response to possible questions regarding the book: SPIRIT OF ATLANTIS / The Treasure Adventure. Although there are three fictional reporters asking questions about the many views presented in the book, the questions asked are meant to inspire the public into discovering the truth and reality about Atlantis. The public is welcome to republish this "press conference" -- however, any republication of this interview should include this web site address or a HTML link to the www.spiritofatlantis.com web site.

Dateline: 8/2025 / Place: Rosman, North Carolina

Duane: Good Day or Good evening -- to whenever this interview is being read. I hope everybody is doing well.

Before any questions are asked, I thought I would give a quick update on my understanding of current events.

Today is August 13, 2025. My wife & I are doing fine -- as are my two kitties. Our little valley neighborhood is currently experiencing some rain and our small garden has given us most of its food for the Summer.

Regarding the Geo-political situation around the world, the ongoing wars between NATO and Russia in Ukraine -- and the False-flag genocide event in Gaza, sadly continues.

My Spirit Of Atlantis website project is still caught in some eddy within the backwaters of the Internet without much hope for publicity -- perhaps because the views within are either too radical and/or too difficult to understand by the general public.

Between researching stories on the Internet and working in the yard, I keep trying to design and develope a unique flying vehicle that I hope could revolutionize human travel around the world.

I would ramble on and on with other thoughts -- but, this is an Interview with the Author event -- so, ask away!

Reporter 2: Good Day or Evening to you as well. Perhaps you could give us some more theories as to why your Spirit Of Atlantis website project has not achieved publicity in the news -- or in the minds of the general public since you first publish your book in 1988. Is it too radical or is it too difficult to understand? Which is it?

Duane: Actually, it could be both. Radical -- because my "out of the box" theories seem so wrong to others when compared to what they were taught in school -- and too difficult because the historical information is really very complicated.

If it wasn't too radical and too difficult to understand, the true story of Atlantis would have been understood a long time ago.

But things are changing. It seems that the general public is waking up to the misinformation that they were taught in school regarding the truth and origins of Western Civilization. And the freedom of discovering new information from the Internet has opened up new stories that are challenging the timeline of human history like never before.

It is my hope that when the general public discovers what was -- and what really happened to Atlantis long ago, the discovery will open up a new breakthrough understanding of the human timeline on our planet.

Reporter 3: Speaking of the human timeline on our planet, could you give us a quick update as to why you believe the conventional timeline of human history was first created in print some five centuries ago? And could you also explain why your new timeline theory of human history is closer to the truth than the conventional human history currently being taught in our schools?

Duane: Well, like I've said before many times, I have no argument with the annual account of dates within the last five centuries of recorded human history -- give or take a decade or so. I say this because there seems to exist too many examples of recorded dates that are verifiable in many ways.

However, even the dates within the last five centuries could be challenged because of recent stories I've found on the Internet -- like the "Mud Flood" theories that could explain how and why some kind of global meteorological flood event may have corrupted recorded dates of human history somehow.

Regarding recorded dates from before about five centuries ago, I have discovered the radical viewpoint that most all of conventional human history can be calculated to only a very small fractional timeline value of what is still being taught in school. In fact, I have found time counting formulas that reveal the recorded date of the first Patriarch named Adam was not over some five thousand years ago -- but only about a thousand years ago!

Moreover, the true birth date of Jesus Christ was about some seven centuries ago! I say these radical statements with excitement because they are exciting to understand. To learn that the timeline of human history is much much smaller than what we are taught in school can be scary at first -- but after reviewing the new timeline data, the discovery can and will open the mind into a better understanding of our human origins.

My new timeline outline of human history gives much smaller time periods of the following subjects:

Adam to Jesus Christ = 3,761 months = 304 years
Greco-Roman Empire = 292 Annual Olympiad events = 292 years
Medieval Era = c.100 years -- not 1,000 years

If the educational institutions around the world would explore these new theories and discover the true timeline of human history like I have, they could help spread the truth and perhaps our future could better overcome some of the many historical and political misunderstandings that plague our current world.

A new version of human history has recently been created and awaits public review.

Reporter 2: In recent interviews you have mentioned the idea that our Atlantean ancestors once traveled around the world in unique sailing ships that used the Lateen Sail Rig. You have also mentioned the idea that you have been working on a "flying kayak" vehicle design that uses this ancient sail rig within its wings. Any news regarding this remarkable new vehicle design?

Duane: I currently now have three main designs that employ the Lateen Sail Rig. All three designs start off as a simple small boat that can be rigged with a free standing Lateen Sail Rig which can be reconfigured into a glider-kite vehicle.

For years I have explored many versions of this flying watercraft, but now believe I'm closer to the final design.

Basically, the vehicle design -- when flying, looks like a unique hang-glider with a Rogallo wing that is carrying an aerodynamic crystal-like payload. Currently, I'm not exactly sure of the type of thrust-propulsion that could efficiently keep the watercraft in the air or even the composite materials which could be used in the building process.

Props or Fan-duct Electric Motors could work for safe propulsion if placed properly on the vehicle -- however, because the design is meant to fold down into a watercraft capable of riding out a stormy event on the surface -- either on water or on land, the final design needs some tweaking.

I am currently translating the wood-spar models of these unique watercraft designs into a CAD program that will allow them to be published online.

The pre-historic shape of the Lateen Sail Rig design
is the inspiration behind the Latin letter of "A".

Reporter 1: After almost forty years of self publishing your Spirit Of Atlantis project, you must be very disappointed in that the general public has not apparently accepted your theories as to what, where and when was Atlantis. How are you taking this disappointment?

Duane: Well -- what can I say? Yes, I'm disappointed in the lack of positive feedback -- or for that matter, any real feedback over the years. At some point, I guess I could have decided to give up on my historical research because other people can't or won't try to understand my abstract Atlantean theories.

I've had to treat my SOA project as a hobby over the years instead of a vocation because the Atlantean subject is not considered a factual enterprise within the business world of commercial publishing. And because I have never really solicited a commercial publishing company with my work -- or even try to get a peer review statement from some "educational facility" like a large named university or college, nobody seems to even know about my Atlantean theories.

I'm not a hustler type of person who would push theoretical stories on social media platforms for publicity reasons. I guess I'm just lazy in that regard.

But, again -- yes, I'm disappointed in the lack of public recognition of my research work into the subject of Atlantis. However, I'm also happy and humbled that I've been allowed to polish and self-publish my Atlantean theories over the years online without having to meet publishing deadlines and answering to editors who may want to compromise my views.

One of the main aspects of my SOA project is the revealing of several theoretical technologies that were lost when Atlantis was washed away during the Biblical Flood event.

These lost technologies include theoretical flying machines, wireless radio devices and stone cutting tools that -- if recreated again today, could substantially improve transportation systems worldwide and shape communities far beyond what exist in our modern world.

I also am concerned that some of these lost technologies from the age of Atlantis may be abused by people who may not realize the danger they pose to humanity if recreated again.

I can only hope that good people in the future will use these lost technologies for good reasons.
